Santa and his helpers were supposed to visit Westgate Hills on Saturday, December 16th, rain date December 17th. Unfortunately, we were rained out on BOTH days.
With little time to inform the entire community, we decided to use email and word of mouth to reschedule for Friday night, December 22nd. Stephen D'Emilio, President of the civic association, and Danny DiBartolomeo, Vice President, toured the neighborhood with bullhorn about an hour before the 7 PM start. With Mitch Miller's renditions of 'Santa Claus Is Coming To Town' and 'Must Be Santa' cranked as loud as their ears could bear, Steve and Danny called for the neighborhood to come out and visit Santa.
Most of the credit for these year's event goes out to Paul French and Jim Lajeunesse. Both strung up light at the park (with help from our treasurer, Brenda Hushen), coordinated with Santa, Frosty, Rudolph, Tigger, and Pooh. They also arranged for a 3-man string band to entertain all of Santa's fans.
Despite the absolutely frigid tempertaures, the turnout was fantastic! The pictures below help to capture the festive mood and atmosphere. Everyone had a chance to see Santa, drink some hot chocolate, and "strut their stuff" to their favorite Christmas tunes. We are all looking forward to next year's visit.
